HW-PI-Audrey

The Audrey Project is an oncoming attempt to integrate biolumiescent or bioflourescent bacteria into the microbiome exisiting in the pitcher of the North American Pitcher Plant (Sarracenia Purpurea). The images to the left show early experiments and prototypes in the project. The glow is produced while the bacteria is viewed under common black light

Having researched Sarracenia Purpurea I came to find that certain strands of e.coli had been found within the pitchers of wild growing Sarracenia Purpurea. Having worked with genetically modified versions of e.coli, I began to wonder if these genetically modified striangs could be integrated into the plant, as other strains had done naturally. The results of these experiments were certainly eye-catching, though only one plant to date has been able to healthily co-exist with the modified bacteria.
